Itinerary

Upon arrival in Roma, check in to your hotel. Spend the afternoon discovering the charm and character of this vibrant country town. Take a stroll down Heroes Avenue, home to 140 bottle trees planted in honour of local World War I soldiers. Stay the next three nights at Roma Explorers Inn.

Enjoy a relaxed morning at leisure, then join the Big Rig Ultimate Experience tour in the afternoon. Take a journey through time and learn about Australia’s first discovery of petroleum and the exploration of oil and gas. This evening, enjoy an entertaining sound and light journey and learn of the remarkable triumphs of the men and women of Roma.

This morning, share a few hours with a Roma local for an insight into the colourful history and presentday activities in and around this outback town. Visit the Farmer’s Forge, the bustling cattle saleyards and marvel at the Biggest Bottle Tree. Learn how agriculture, timber, wine, oil, and gas industries have shaped the town, all while exploring Roma’s diverse natural landscapes. Enjoy morning tea in the beautiful Roma Bush Gardens. This afternoon, visit Western Queensland Spirit to sample small-batch spirits infused with the region’s unique botanicals. Wander through the beautiful native gardens before enjoying a guided tasting of four award-winning spirits or liqueurs.

Today, head to the Carnarvon Ranges for a full day guided tour. With exclusive access to a large privately owned cattle property nestled in the Carnarvon Ranges, this is a great introduction to Outback Queensland. Explore secluded gorges, amazing rock formations and unique Aboriginal rock art. This evening, transfer to Roma railway station for your journey back to Brisbane
aboard the Westlander.
