Lynne Cruises Legend of the Sea

I have just returned from a 10 night cruise on board 'Legend of the Seas' visiting Champagne Bay, Lifo, Villa, Mystery Island and Maree with a group of over 20 friends.  This was a cruise to celebrate a friends 60th birthday and I have decided this is definitely the way to celebrate a birthday.  It is all so easy with food, entertainment, drinks and amazing destinations all taken care of.  We were lucky to have experienced smooth sailing, lovely sunny weather and we only had to pack and unpack once!!  I think Maree was probably one of my favourite islands, the beach was clean and pristine with beautiful blue waters but all the other islands were great too.

SRI LANKA

I've recently returned from two weeks in Sri Lanka and all I can say is WOW what a place!!!  Such a small island with extreme diversitity it truly allowed me to have so many experiences in just a short time.  The beaches are amazing as is climbing Sigiriya (8th wonder of the world) and seeing the extensive historical cities and towns and their amazing statues.  A train ride through to Ella through the scenic Tea country is a must do!  This wild and untamed land has everything from Leopards and Elephants to Whales and tiny sloths.   However, the absolute highlight of my trip was the people!  For a country that lost around 40,000 to the great Tsunami 12 years ago and displaced another million, they are truly heroic.  Their serene smiles and beautiful natures made me very humbled.

SINGAPORE

“A recent trip to Singapore did not disappoint with balmy gorgeous weather, fabulous food, endless shopping and a huge array for really fun things to do, particularly with the kids. I travelled there with my husband and daughter along with my brother and sister and their entourages and my parents. It was quite a group with lots of holiday needs to be met however we found Singapore to be the best place to cater for everyone’s desires.

One place that is not mentioned much and yet was a big highlight of our 5 day Singapore frenzy, was Universal Studios. The theme park has cutting-edge rides, shows and attractions based on blockbuster films and TV series. It sits in the Resorts World at Sentosa Island, very close to the centre of Singapore.

I am a bit of a theme park connoisseur and have seen a few around the world and I would place Universal Studios in Singapore right up with the rest of them. It is reasonably priced for a big day out (S$74 per adult and S$54 per child and Seniors S$36 for 60+) but that includes all rides once you are inside the grounds. The rides are what set this place apart. This photo was taken outside “The Revenge of the Mummy” ride. Not for the feint hearted and way too much fun, this ride is fantastic whether you are a child or a grown up (and a child at heart). Our favourite ride was the Transformers which is nothing like I have experienced before. It’s a mega-realistic 3D ride that is really out of this world and almost worth travelling to Singapore just to partake in it! It was so good I think we went on it 3 times in a row!

There is something for everyone here including very young children and every Saturday fabulous fireworks are displayed in the evening. If you go on a week day you’ll avoid lines and the park is a really nice place to be. There is also a water park close-by and a fantastic aquarium that you can get special bundle deals on too.

A definite must see and a great way to enjoy the Universal Studios concept right on our doorstep.”- Trish

Canada / America:

I recently got back from an American and Canadian adventure of a lifetime! Starting in New York, I spent four days experiencing all that the Big Apple has to offer! Due to it being late February, it was quite cold but that didn’t stop me from being a tourist and visiting all the must see’s when in New York; Empire State, Statue of Liberty, Rockefeller Centre, Central Park, 9/11 Memorial (Ground Zero), Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, Madam Tussauds Wax Museum and so much more! It was definitely a surreal experience standing in Times Square and taking it all in. Next up a week skiing in Whistler, Canada. Waking up to a winter wonderland every morning and going to bed by the fire and all the skiing in between, if its not on your destination bucket list – it definitely should be! I spent the next few weeks gambling my money away in Las Vegas, bringing out my inner princess at Disneyland and riding my bike along the beautiful beaches of Santa Monica & Venice Beach. This was defiantly the holiday of a lifetime and I would love for you to give me the opportunity to help you plan an adventure just like mine! Breanna
